Hi, I’m Alan Stein
I’ve been airbrushing as a hobby for years. I started Airbrush Bench to share what I’ve learned and help other painters get more comfortable with their setup.
This is where I write about paint, equipment and the small adjustments that make airbrushing easier to understand. The focus is on hobby painting, especially miniatures and scale models.
Why I started Airbrush Bench
Airbrushing brings a lot of variables together: paint consistency, pressure, distance, needle size and cleaning. When something goes wrong, it can be hard to tell which one to change first. I wanted a place to work through those questions in plain language, with a useful next step rather than a long list of possible causes.
What you’ll find here
The Guides cover getting started, thinning paint, setting pressure, cleaning and troubleshooting. I keep each article focused on a task or symptom, so you can find the part that helps and get back to painting.
In Buying Guides, I look at how different airbrushes, compressors and paints fit different jobs and budgets. I care about what a setup includes, what it works with and where its limitations might matter.
How I approach the hobby
I prefer to change one thing at a time, make a test spray and see what changes. That same approach shapes the site. A setting that suits one paint or airbrush may need adjusting for another, so I try to explain what to look for as well as what to do.
I also check technical details and update articles when I find something that needs clarifying. The aim is to make this a useful companion at your painting desk, whether you’re setting up your first airbrush or tracking down an annoying problem.
